MY Story

Soft, romantic knitting patterns

About A Bee In The Bonnet

A Bee In The Bonnet is a place for soft, romantic knitting patterns for stitchers who want to escape the everyday. If you’re seeking knits with vintage inspiration and easily memorized stitch patterns, you’ve come to the right place.

And if you also love historical dramas, tea parties, picnics on old quilts, gardens full of roses and dahlias, or disappearing into a good book, you’ll find kindred spirits here.

A blonde woman in her 30s wearing a knit hat, a white shirt, and a tan jacket smiles softly with her arm draped around her dressmaker's form.

Meet Lauren

Founder + Designer

I’m primarily a knitting pattern designer. My designs focus on elegant simplicity and lots of texture, with an emphasis on stitch patterns that can be easily memorized and smaller projects that are super portable. They’re heavily inspired by Edwardian fashion, rococo interiors, and the 19th century novels I read over and over when I was younger (and the romance novels I devour now!).

I also blog about knitting and photography, and I teach classes to help makers embrace their desire for softness and beauty. That’s because I believe everybody deserves a place of safety and warmth, somewhere they can let down their guard and be vulnerable for a little bit. Knitting, and making more generally, is a door into that space.

When I’m not knitting up a storm, you can usually find me puttering about in my rose garden, going on small adventures with my elementary schooler, or hunting for sea glass at the beach.

Come join me for a fun event next week! I’m going Come join me for a fun event next week! I’m going to be hosting a Do It Together Week where students will work together to complete one or more modules of my Craft Photography Basics course.

We will be hanging out in a pop-up Facebook group that will only be active during the Do It Together Week. The week is designed so that you get support and community while you learn and practice your new skills.

Registration for the week closes on Sunday, March 22! I’ll pop a link in my stories.

And if you’re already a student, don’t worry, this fun event is automatically included in your previous purchase. Just log in to the course and click into the section in the introductory module for the March 2026 event.
One of the most common questions I see in sock kni One of the most common questions I see in sock knitting forums is how to make handknit socks last longer. There are five common culprits for a handknit sock that develops holes after just a couple of wears. If you are experiencing some issues with your handknit socks falling apart quickly, you can use this list to troubleshoot.
