Beach knitting season is well and truly upon us! D Beach knitting season is well and truly upon us! Do you take your knits to the beach, too? 

A lot of people ask me if I’m worried about sand getting in my knits, and that question always makes me laugh. I’m not worried. They’re washable!
If you told me to put away my knitting for several If you told me to put away my knitting for several months because it was just too hot, things would not work out well for any of us. I’ve spent a lot of time over the years refining my summer knitting strategies, and I’m a big fan of socks for summertime.

Socks are small and compact, so I can throw them in a bag and take them anywhere. They’re lightweight, so they won’t affect my luggage limits. The small size means they won’t sit on my lap and legs and overheat me.

Listen, I know I sound like  a broken record here, but I really do think knitting socks is the solution to most of life’s problems.

I’ve always taken a very “you do you” approach to knitting, so I never understood the aggressive tone of some people’s commentary on this question.

Ultimately, I think all the various different knitting styles tell pretty cool stories about who we are, where we learned, and what we prefer in our knitting experiences. Remember: if it gets you the results you want without causing you injury, your approach is just fine.
