A top-down photo of a piece of soft green knit ribbing. It has been bound off neatly at the top edge with no gap. It is surrounded by a floral teacup full of black tea, an antique book, some metal circular knitting needles, and some green hellebores.

A white woman's hands (mine) are wearing pale blue fingerless mitts and knitting a sock. Around them are a teacup full of milky tea, some antique books, a handknit lacy hat, and some balls of leftover yarn.

I’ve been saying for at least two years that I w I’ve been saying for at least two years that I was planning to convert the live workshops into self-paced courses, and I’ve finally done it! Now you can improve your craft photography skills no matter where you’re located or what time of day works best for you.

Weather you’re a very new beginner looking to just master the basics or somebody who wants to do a deeper dive into the specific elements of flatlay photos, I’ve got something for you.

I can’t wait to watch your photo skills grow!
My approach as both a knitter and designer has alw My approach as both a knitter and designer has always been that ultimately, you are in charge of your own knit. If you don’t like the technique the instructions tell you to use, you don’t have to use it.

But it is important to understand why the instructions include that technique before you decide whether to skip it. That’s because sometimes, even though we don’t like doing the technique, it produces a desirable result. Sometimes there are other ways to achieve that result, but sometimes there aren’t.

Once you understand the technique, you are better equipped to make informed decisions for yourself and your knitting process.

I didn’t know how to Magic Loop, and I don’t like knitting socks toe-up.

This is one of my favorite things about knitting: no matter how long you’ve been doing it, there’s still more to learn.
