Collab post: Lifelines are one of those knitting t Collab post: Lifelines are one of those knitting tools that you may need less as you grow in experience, but they never completely lose their usefulness. While I am usually pretty comfortable dropping back and fixing mistakes, when I know there’s a possibility that I might need to rip back several rows or I’m working in a darker yarn where fixing mistakes can be a little more challenging, lifelines really live up to their name. The pattern for these mittens designed in collaboration with @expressionfiberarts is coming early next month, and I’m really excited to share it with you! As always, they’re graded to multiple sizes and have instructions for how to lengthen the hand section to meet your unique hands’ fit needs.
I love a sock pattern filled with cables. Whether I love a sock pattern filled with cables. Whether they’re dainty things going down a central panel or more substantial cables wrapping the whole sock, I’m happy either way. So here are ten of my favorites I’ve designed over the years. I’ve heard so many knitters over the years talk about how hard it is to knit with dark colors, so I thought I’d test that out with my eyes that are now almost 20 years older than when I started knitting. And while I did occasionally have some spots where I had to shine my phone flashlight directly onto my work, the truth is, I didn’t find it that much more challenging than knitting with any other yarn. A few simple adjustments can make all the difference. Knitting with dark yarn doesn’t have to be a nightmare. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. These tips and tricks will have you happily stitching along with your dark yarn in no time. Many thanks to @expressionfiberarts for providing support for this design project! I didn’t pick up knitting because I wanted to lear I didn’t pick up knitting because I wanted to learn how to knit socks. In fact, for the first decade, I only knit a few pairs. But somewhere along the way, I fell in love with socks. I’ve now knit so many pairs that I’ve actually lost count. Some I’ve given away. Others I’ve worn to shreds. Some are carefully protected design samples. All of them are special.
