I am a firm believer in blocking finished knits of I am a firm believer in blocking finished knits of all types—hats, scarves, mittens, you name it. It helps the fibers settle into place and puts the knit item into its final size/shape (this is especially important if you used superwash wool yarn!).

While this process won’t work the same with acrylic or other pure synthetic fibers, you should probably still wash them when you’re done. Our knits pick up all sorts of dust and oils from our hands while we’re working on them. It’s nice to have them fresh and clean for wearing.

Shawl is my Berry Scone Shawl. Yarn is by @badsheepyarn in the colorway Celeste (gifted yarn).

I’m about 500 yards into knitting this seed stitch I’m about 500 yards into knitting this seed stitch scarf and the end is in sight, but I gotta be honest… I kind of want to keep knitting.
I can’t remember the last time I bought a brand ne I can’t remember the last time I bought a brand new piece of furniture, and it’s because Facebook Marketplace is such a fabulous resource. Anything I want is available there in solid wood and with more character than I could find in a new store, and for a way better price, too.

When I rearranged my office last week, I realized I needed a little bit more storage. Since then, I’ve been on the hunt for just the right small bookcase, console, or table with a shelf below it. I spotted this one on marketplace after a couple days, but the price was a little more than I wanted to pay for it. When I saw the price had dropped on Monday evening, I jumped on it.

Shopping secondhand is an exercise in honing your taste, knowing what you’re looking for, and trusting your gut. It can be easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of things out there, so you need to filter and sort and sift aggressively. I’ll pop a blog post about how to do just that in my stories.
