Size Inclusivity in Knit Accessory Patterns

A pair of speckled socks is laid out out flat on a white marble countertop with the toes pointing to the left. The socks are knit in a pattern that alternates columns of stockinette stitch with columns of ribbed eyelets. The socks are surrounded by small eucalyptus branches, antique books, and a lace handkerchief.

A top-down photograph of a pair of gray-green socks with cable and seed stitch panels down the front and back. One sock still needs its toe grafted together. To the left of the socks is a canister of Tea Forte's Apricot Amaretto tea. It's a black canister with a tan label that has apricot-colored embellishments. A little tea is spilled across the counter to show its texture. To the right of the socks is a white teacup and saucer. The cup is full of Apricot Amaretto tea with milk. Small balls of snowball viburnum are scattered about the image.

A light blue wool cowl is draped around the neck and shoulders of a dressmaker's form. The cowl features alternating columns of bobbles and lacy leaves, with 1x1 ribbing along the top and bottom for stability.

New Pattern: Quercus Agrifolia Cowl

A top-down photo focused on a pair of handknit sock in progress. One sock is almost done and just needs the toes grafted, while the other is just ribbing on a small circular needle. The socks are a soft blue-green with hints of gray and feature a cabled panel around the front. They're surrounded by a pink teacup and saucer (with lots of milky tea in the cup), antique doilies, and peach and white roses.

The Grandmillennial Shawl is draped around a white dressmaker's form. It's a seed stitch shawl in an asymmetrical triangle shape that has a ruffled edge. The ruffles are made from a creamy silk-mohair blend, while the body of the yarn is knit in a luxurious DK-weight cahmere-merino yarn from Purl Soho.

This is a really special one. If you’ve been her This is a really special one. If you’ve been here since the very beginning, you might remember this pattern. It was my first ever sock pattern, released back in the spring of 2018 when I was still practicing law.

The Santa Rosa Socks have long needed an update, but for some reason, I dragged my feet on it. They are finally ready, though, and the updated pattern will be released on Halloween.

They now have five sizes, a new sample, fresh pictures, clearer instructions, and most importantly, thorough tech editing from @techeditor.bluecrabknits.
I’ve been knitting socks since 2008 and designin I’ve been knitting socks since 2008 and designing them since 2018. It’s safe to say I’ve knit a lot of socks since then.

Come join me for an online workshop as part of the Knit Happy Summit, where I’ll walk you through all the factors to consider before you buy sock yarn for your next project.

The Knit Happy Summit is an entirely online summit featuring me and 20+ other super knowledgeable designers and teachers sharing their best tips and tricks to make your knitting experience better. It runs from November 6-9, 2025. There’s a free option with some limitations and an expanded pass that gets you tons of great bonuses (including four sock patterns from yours truly).

Socktober is my favorite time of year. I like to c Socktober is my favorite time of year. I like to celebrate with sock sales and lots of content about socks, but I also use it as a reminder to air out all my socks and freshen them up for winter use.

They spend the warmer months in a basket, so giving them some regular movement and fresh air helps keep any pests away. Add in some cedar sachets, and we’re in good shape.
Making content is one thing, but making content ab Making content is one thing, but making content about making content? Ah, now that’s art.

Anyway, I’ll be here folding all these handknit socks for the foreseeable future.
