Welcome!

Welcome to A Bee In The Bonnet, a place to share stories about knitting, working, how knitting fits into a life that involves working, and other fun things.

For the last decade, I’ve been stitching my way through law school and life as a working lawyer. Knitting has been an invaluable source of centering calmness for me, and I’m passionate about helping other busy working professionals learn to knit, too.

Many of the most popular knitters in the blogosphere do the knitting thing full time. That’s awesome, but it never really resonated with me on a personal level. I was working 80-hour weeks under high pressure and short deadlines. Where were the knitting blogs for people like me?

Of course, the answer was that people like me didn’t have the time to create the knitting blog I wanted to read. After taking a couple detours and slowing down my professional life, though, I found myself with enough time to start writing the blog I had been looking for.

It’s like the old saying goes: if there’s something you want to read, and it hasn’t been written yet, write it yourself.

So here we are, on the start of a new adventure together. I’m looking forward to using this space to talk about knitting and how it relates to so many issues we struggle with in the working world: perfectionism, procrastination, finding time for hobbies we enjoy, and knitting as self care. I’m also hoping to feature conversations with other knitters who work demanding day jobs (if you know somebody who’d be a good fit, please, I’d love an email introduction!).

Thanks for tuning in. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
