A Bee In The Bonnet

Author: Lauren Rad

I'm a former lawyer turned knitwear designer who designs soft, romantic patterns for knitters who want a brief escape from the everyday. When I'm not knitting, you can usually find me puttering about in my rose garden, hosting tea parties, or collecting sea glass at the beach.
A top-down photograph of a pair of gray-green socks with cable and seed stitch panels down the front and back. One sock still needs its toe grafted together. To the left of the socks is a canister of Tea Forte's Apricot Amaretto tea. It's a black canister with a tan label that has apricot-colored embellishments. A little tea is spilled across the counter to show its texture. To the right of the socks is a white teacup and saucer. The cup is full of Apricot Amaretto tea with milk. Small balls of snowball viburnum are scattered about the image.

The socks are a soft blue-green with hints of gray and feature a cabled panel around the front. They're surrounded by a pink teacup and saucer (with lots of milky tea in the cup), antique doilies, and peach and white roses.

My Vanilla Sock Recipe

A flatlay photo of a pair of light gray handknit socks. The socks are laid flat on a gray surface with the toes pointing to the right. They're covered in tiny cables and eyelets, and surrounded by dusty miller, a blue and white teacup full of coffee, and a blue and white place with several croissants on it.

New Pattern: the Upwelling Socks

A top-down photo of the two pairs of socks featured in this post, one light blue and lacy, one with pink, white, and brown stripes. Both have had all their pills removed and look crisp and sharp again. Tucked in the middle between them is a blue and white teacup full of coffee and a white rose.

Now, as the mother of a 9-year-old girl, I’m horrified by how she snuck out in the dead of night to steal a horse. Child! What were you doing?!
