A quick introduction for all the new friends who’v A quick introduction for all the new friends who’ve made their way here over the last few months! Welcome, and I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Lauren. I design knitting patterns with a focus on accessories. Socks are my special love.

I live in a funny little beach city in Southern California with my husband and our elementary schooler. You won’t see their faces around here, but just know that they are always nearby and I would not be the creator I am without them.

I took up knitting in my first semester of law school to cope with stress. That was back in the fall of 2007. After three years of law school and almost eight years of practice, I hung up my suits and stepped into the classroom. I spent seven wonderful years teaching law to highschoolers at the same high school where I was once a student.

But our school district is shrinking and last year, it became pretty clear that it could no longer sustain my program. I decided to pivot again and take my knitting pattern business full-time. In the six months since, I’ve had a lot of fun experimenting with different forms of content, connecting with new people, and leaning into my creativity.

When I’m not designing or creating knitting content, I love puttering about in my rose garden, hunting for sea glass at the beach with my kid, wandering through museums and libraries, taking pictures of cute old houses, devouring romance novels, and looking for spots of beauty and joy everywhere I possibly can.
This is something that genuinely just occurred to This is something that genuinely just occurred to me this morning, and now I’m really wondering! How do interactions between knitters and knitting pattern designers differ from interactions between two knitters who aren’t designers? Is there a meaningful difference? And if so, how does that affect the way we engage with each other on social platforms?
